In 2020, the global logistics market was worth almost 8.6 trillion U.S. dollars with Asia-Pacific and North America and Asia Pacific leading the industry. Inefficiencies in route planning, lack of real-time visibility, high operational costs, and environmental concerns have long been persistent issues. Internet of Things (IoT) technologies are now stepping in to tackle these challenges by offering real-time data insights and automation capabilities, thereby optimizing logistics processes and reducing operational expenses. We see strong evidence of the high relevance of IoT solutions for the transport and logistics industry. As of today, we have 23,000 customers of which 7% are active in the transport and logistics sector.
Common use cases we support are asset tracking, equipment rental monitoring, commercial vehicle telemetry, cold chain monitoring, and remote food & and beverage monitoring. In total, we have IoT projects for Logistics in 137 countries.
