Emergency Call (eCall) in
Automotive Solutions

eCall, short for "Emergency Call," has emerged as a critical component of IoT-driven automotive solutions. The primary driving force behind the widespread implementation of emergency calling systems is the desire to enhance road safety. The overarching aim is to decrease the number of severe injuries and fatalities resulting from accidents. This not only reduces the risk of subsequent accidents but also diminishes congestion-related costs.

With over 16% of our customers being from the automotive sector, we are open to working with eCall vendors and telematics projects globally.

eCall Device Vendors and Market

The primary geographical markets of focus will include Greater China, Europe, and North America. In addition, Russia & Central Asia are expected to make a substantial contribution to the hardware market. The EU’s eCall initiative has made an automatic emergency call device a mandatory safety feature in all new car models sold.

Russia has its own system called ERA-GLONASS, which is similar to eCall and is obligatory for new car models, while Brazil was working on implementing a similar system called "SIMRAV" for monitoring and responding to traffic accidents. While the U.S. doesn't have a nationwide mandatory system like the EU's eCall, some automakers and third-party service providers offer similar services.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has also considered regulations related to vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication for safety purposes. Furthermore, China has been exploring similar systems for vehicle safety, although the status of mandatory implementation may vary by region.

The companies below have a global presence and partnerships with automotive manufacturers and service providers worldwide. This allows them to offer their eCall solutions to different regions and adapt to local needs.
