• T-Mobile’s IoT Easy connect allows transparent pre-paid tariffs
• Easy ordering & fast delivery via online shop
• Offering is based on white labeled 1NCE cloud native IoT platform
For IoT Easy Connect, T-Mobile utilizes the cloud native IoT platform developed by Cologne based 1NCE GmbH following Deutsche Telekom, which launched its Business Smart Connect portfolio using the 1NCE platform since August last year for their offering targeting the German market.
1NCE has developed its technology exclusively for IoT applications and offers, besides its own SIM-card business, branded managed services for IoT connectivity to third parties via its own platform. Compared to traditional platform providers, 1NCE scores with lean and efficient structures. Its technology is scalable and easy to integrate. Mobile Network Operators (MNO) can use their proprietary infrastructure and easily adapt 1NCE’s Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solution.
“We see a growing interest in innovative solutions for IoT services like these”, says Alexander P. Sator, CEO of 1NCE. “Our cloud-native IoT-Platform delivers cost-effective, fast and low-risk access to the IoT market. We’re giving MNOs the ability to use our platform via an API to offer their customers high-volume, low-bandwidth IoT connectivity at low costs, while they can keep focusing on their key business services.”
In the recently published report “New MNO Opportunities Enabled by IoT Cloud-Native Platforms” by British consultancy and research firm Ovum, 1NCEs platform offering is emphasized as an exemplary solution for lean and scalable IoT connectivity. Traditionally, major Mobile Network Operators have focused on connecting consumers, not things. While their own platforms may be highly capable and highly customizable, they are often difficult to scale cost-effectively and cannot be used to bring new solutions to market quickly.
Cloud-native Platforms are not tied to legacy systems and infrastructure and allow MNOs to rapidly and virtually provision and update services. IoT offerings can be scaled more agile and even the interoperability across multiple clouds is given.
In July 1NCE demonstrated this by implementing a new free service for their own customers: The 1NCE IoT Connectivity Suite for AWS allows to easily authenticate and integrate IoT devices within the IoT Core of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and enhances battery-lifetime by automatically translate communication to leaner and thus energy-saving protocols.
1NCEs own offering, the 1NCE IoT Flat Rate, is characterized by easily calculable costs through a pre-paid model that is geared towards the ten-year-lifespan of IoT-enabled devices: 10 Euros for 10 years including 500 MB of data and 250 SMS in over 100 countries worldwide. No additional costs for setup or roaming. The 1NCE IoT Flat Rate can switch seamlessly between the different mobile radio standards 2G, 3G, 4G, NB-IoT or LTE-M and is already designed for 5G use. Worldwide IoT connectivity by 1NCE is possible due to long-term wholesale contracts with Deutsche Telekom and China Telecom Global.
