Scaling EV Charging with IoT

According to Berg Insight, the total installed base of dedicated charging points in Europe is forecasted to increase from 7.8 million in 2023 to 26.3 million by 2028, and from 3.4 million in 2023 to reach 15.3 million in 2028 in North America. The EV charging infrastructure is more often powered by IoT, which enables instant monitoring, control, and optimization of charging stations. This ensures security and accuracy of data provided as well as a better user experience and scaled network.

“At Powerdot, we appreciate 1NCE’s commitment to supporting our business, their prompt responses, and the extensive network coverage of their product. These qualities play a key role in helping us achieve our goals.”

Luis Santiago Pinto, CEO, Powerdot

Background

Powerdot is a Portuguese company focused on developing and operating electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. Their primary goal is to expand the availability of charging stations, particularly in high-traffic areas such as retail spaces (shopping malls, supermarkets, retail parks and specialty stores), hotels, and restaurants. The company partners with businesses and real estate owners to install and manage EV chargers, offering solutions that provide easy, fast, and reliable EV charging. They aim to accelerate sustainable mobility by bringing more access to charging points across multiple regions.

Challenge

Powerdot intends to expand its EV charging solutions across the European region, including France, Spain, and Poland. However, the company faced specific operational challenges. A growing charging network needed a secure, reliable, and simple way of management and connection between devices and accurately control their charging points. In addition, Powerdot also needed a solution that would coincide with their strategy of rapid growth and allow them to scale up operations without facing connectivity or service interruptions.

1NCE Solution

1NCE was happy to support Powerdot's intention to make EV charging even more simple and data-accurate. The company has contributed to Powerdot's growth, enabling them to become the largest electric vehicle charging operator in France and one of the largest in Europe. With 1NCE IoT software & connectivity, they are able to simplify the management of its charging stations and connect the devices across multiple countries. With 1NCE's global network, Powerdot is expanding rapidly, offering consistent, high-quality service to EV users while minimizing operational complexities.
