1NCE, the provider of simple connectivity for IoT services, devices and applications, is proud to present the business of Vimcar , a specialist in vehicle-live trackingheadquartered in Berlin, who has selected the 1NCE IoT FlexSIM cards to support its move into the small-to-medium sized business (SMB) sector. Vimcar, which already serves more than 25,000 customers in Germany was attracted to the 1NCE Lifetime Fee offering of 500MB of data plus 250 SMS for $10 for ten years with no monthly recurring charges, which has enabled it to have total visibility into the connectivity cost of its SaaS offering.

Vimcar utilises 2G and 3G connectivity enabled via the 1NCE SIM cards and will also use the open virtual private network (VPN) connectivity capability and the international mobile equipment identity (IMEI) lock functionality provided by 1NCE. For vehicle tracking applications this provides a substantial advantage because of the necessity for external telematics hardware units, or dongles to be connected to an on-board diagnostics (OBD) port that can also access the global navigation satellite system (GNSS). Each dongle must be securely authenticated so the data from each vehicle is accurate and frauds cannot be committed and the open VPN supports this.

The company’s new Vimcar Fleet solution has been designed with the needs of SMBs in mind and features include GPS tracking, contract management, vehicle booking, drivers’ licence checks, cost reports and route documentation. Since the service requires dongles to be installed into vehicles it’s vital that costs are controlled and security is maintained. A priority for Vimcar was to ensure that dongles are deployed in specific vehicles and that tracking data is accurate.
