Monitoring and improving the indoor climate.

Studies consistently demonstrate that poor air quality, specifically elevated CO₂ levels above 1,000 ppm, negatively impacts cognitive function and decision-making. Conversely, optimized ventilation and temperature control have shown to improve student performance by up to 10% and reduce the spread of airborne illnesses. Achieving these benefits necessitates reliable, real-time monitoring of key environmental parameters such as CO₂, temperature, humidity, and noise levels, enabling proactive adjustments to create healthier and more productive spaces.

Utilizing sensors and wireless modules, these systems need to ensure reliable data transmission to cloud platforms. At this point, they face obstacles related to power efficiency, signal strength, and data security. Scalability also presents a challenge, since managing numerous connected devices across various locations requires robust connectivity solutions.

“1NCE transformed how we connect and monitor our indoor climate solutions. Their seamless connectivity and intuitive platform ensure that our sensors deliver real-time, actionable data—keeping buildings healthier and more efficient than ever”

Kristoffer Jensen, Director, ÅBN

Background

ÅBN’s devices monitor a wide range of crucial indoor climate factors. They track CO₂ concentration, which is vital for cognitive function and preventing fatigue as well as monitor temperature and humidity for thermal comfort and mold growth prevention. The devices also detect total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs), identifying potentially harmful chemical emissions from sources like furniture, cleaning agents, and building materials. Furthermore, they measure noise levels to ensure acoustic comfort and reduce stress-related issues. Finally, they monitor light intensity, optimizing lighting conditions for overall well-being and productivity. This approach to indoor climate assessment allows organizations to make data-driven decisions that improve occupant health, well-being, and performance.

Challenge

ÅBN’s hardware required constant data transmission to the cloud, necessitating a dependable provider that could offer uninterrupted connectivity and coverage for multiple locations and applications. They needed a partner that could support them from the initial development stage to the final deployment.

1NCE Solution

Partnering with 1NCE, ÅBN were able to endure stable and secure connectivity from the outset. They now have access to 1NCE's platform with a comprehensive overview of endpoints activity, data usage, and order history, which streamlines management and monitoring. The reliable connection ensured that the data was transmitted without interruption, allowing for constant monitoring and optimization of the indoor environments.
